Cathy Crawley is a Director at BRE. Her role involves leading contracted services as well as Programme Director for the pan-European Smart Sustainable Districts Programme for the Climate-KIC. Prior to joining BRE, Cathy ran her own sustainability consulting business for 3.5 years and before that she was a Director with Arup and led Arup's Australasian environment and sustainability business.
Cathy has over 25 years' expertise as a sustainability and environmental professional working with public and private clients designing and implementing corporate and project level sustainability strategies, co-creating tools (i.e. SPeAR, Corporate Gap Analysis Tool, Carbon Information System) with indicators for sustainability, carbon and climate assessment and monitoring. She is also an expert in environmental impact assessment having delivered major infrastructure (including airport, road, rail and urban development) projects for private clients. She is a Fellow of the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand.
At Arup Cathy was also appointed to the Australasian and Global Arup Trustee Board's. With Board responsibility for sustainability Cathy and her team embedded sustainability thinking in over 20 businesses and 1300 employees within the Australasia region; meeting Sustainability Strategy KPIs three years running, training and mentoring teams from civil and structural engineering, water and planning; achieved ISO14001 certification and delivering Arup's Carbon Management Strategy.
