Senior Advisor, Critical Facilities
John is a recognized industry leader in data center engineering, construction, and critical facility operations, including energy and enterprise risk; with a track record of driving positive business results for global portfolios of corporate, wholesale and retail colocation data centers. At Skanska USA Building, he developed investment-grade business plans to meet pent-up demand for sustainable project solutions, creating over $250M of deal opportunities in energy, water, and waste-conversion infrastructure projects.
As Director Real Estate Global Infrastructure Group/Data Centers at Microsoft, his work to organizationally align IT with Critical Facilities Operations for integrated Service Management (SMF) led to his appointment as an Uptime Institute Fellow. In his role as head of Microsoft's Global Data Center Strategies, he led the development of one of the industry's first data center assessment and performance tools to objectively quantify and underwrite data center investments to achieve a balance of cost, capacity and operational risk (SLAs).
Additionally, for over 15 years John held project executive roles in electrical engineering and construction for ENR top 100 EPC firms, delivering a broad range of large scale commercial, industrial, institutional and utility construction projects internationally. John attended California Institute of Technology, Harvard Business School and holds industry certifications in IT and Enterprise Risk, and is a licensed electrical contractor.
